BlackAmericaToday.com is a news and information website targeting African Americans founded by Roland S. Martin, a nationally syndicated columnist and CEO of ROMAR Media Group.

BlackAmericaToday.com, branded with the moniker, "We've got Black America covered!" - will feature original content, as well as information from a variety of partners in the areas of news, opinion, entertainment, sports, religion, lifestyles and books.

BlackAmericaToday.com's goal is simple: to provide truthful, accurate and comprehensive coverage and critical analysis of the most pressing issues facing African Americans, regardless of ideology and political persuasion.

Founder/Editor

Roland S. Martin is a nationally award-winning journalist and a nationally syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate. Mr. Martin is also the author of Speak, Brother! A Black Man's View of America. Mr. Martin's media ventures are handled through his company, ROMAR Media Group, a Dallas-based multimedia company focusing on publishing, syndicated print and audio content, television production, as well as Internet and media consulting. The company owns DFW Heritage: A Lifestyles Publication for the 21st Century Christian (www.dfwheritage.com). ROMAR has published two books, Speak, Brother! and Fulfilled! The Art and Joy of Balanced Living by Rev. Jacquie Hood Martin. His work has been published in several national media outlets, including USA Today, Honey Magazine, Impact247.com, Savoymag.com, Inside.com, NiaOnline.com and Netnoir.com. He is the founding news editor for Savoy Magazine, a New York-based national lifestyles magazine targeting African Americans. He served from 2001 to 2003. Martin also provides commentary on The Tavis Smiley Show on National Public Radio. Mr. Martin has also produced a one-hour special on the 2000 Election for Major Broadcasting Cable Network in Atlanta, Georgia. He also is frequently called upon as a content and marketing consultant for a variety of media outlets. A provocative and insightful analyst, Mr. Martin has already appeared more than 75 times on various TV and radio network shows. His appearances include CNN's Live From…,Talkback Live and Showdown Iraq with Wolf Blitzer; FOX's The O'Reilly Factor; MSNBC's Scarborough Country, Nachman and Donahue; C-SPAN; nationally syndicated radio talk shows such as The Tom Joyner Morning Show; The Bev Smith Show and the Joe Madison Show. He is the former founding editor of BlackAmericaWeb.com, the black news and information site founded by nationally-syndicated radio show host Tom Joyner. He previously served as editor of the Houston Defender, Houston's leading Black newspaper, and the former managing editor of The Weekly, Dallas-Fort Worth's top Black newspaper, which he led to a number of local, state and national journalism awards. Mr. Martin is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and is one of 32 national Unity Journalists of Color mentors.

Dr. Ron Daniels

Daniels is the executive director of the Center for Constitutional Rights. He is the former executive director of the National Rainbow Coalition and was the deputy campaign manager for Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential candidacy.

Earl Ofari Hutchison

Dr. Hutchinson is a noted author, political analyst, and media commentator.  His writings have appeared in such publications as the L.A. Times, Los Angeles Sentinel, The Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Black Scholor and Upscale.  He is the host of a call-in radio show, and his syndicated column appears in newspapers across the country.  He is the author of nine books, including Black Fatherhood, Assassination of the Black Male Image, and The Crisis in Black and Black.

Rev. Jacquie Hood Martin

Hood Martin is chief spiritual officer of Jacquie Hood Ministries, an organization that equips and empowers people for daily living. She is the author of Fulfilled! The Art and Joy of Balanced Living, www.jacquiehood.com.

Derrick-Lewis Noble

Derrick-Lewis Noble is President/CEO of The Excellence Group, Inc. He is a highly sought after professional motivational speaker, independent corporate consultant and author, and was recently recognized as one of the top twenty young Black speakers in America.

Joseph C. Phillips

Joseph C. Phillips is an actor and commentator who lives in Los Angeles. As a writer Mr. Phillips has had essays published in Newsweek, Essence Magazine, Upscale magazine, USA Today, Turning Point, College Digest and is a regular contributor to the Columbus Post, Jewish World Review and the Indianapolis Recorder. He has also contributed commentary to BET Tonight and is a regular commentator on National Public Radio’s the Tavis Smiley Radio Show. His feature film credits include starring roles in Strictly Business, Let’s Talk About Sex and Midnight Blue. On television he starred on the hit series The Cosby Show and was a three time NAACP Image Award Nominee for his portrayal of Attorney Justus Ward on the Daytime Drama General Hospital. He has also had guest starring roles on The King of Queens, Judging Amy, Family Law, Martin, The Larry Sanders Show, City of Angeles, Any Day Now, The Parkers, Popular, V.I.P. and Living Single among others. Mr. Phillips currently portrays Mayor Morgan Douglas on the CBS series, The District.

Dr. Mitchell F. Rice

Rice is the Director of the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute at Texas A&M University and a Professor in the Bush School of Government and Public Service. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. He has written and lectured extensively on such topics as "MWBE Set-Aside Programs", "Cultural Diversity", "Affirmative Action and EEO Diversity", and "Public Policy and African-American Health Issues."

Lisa Thomas

Lisa Thomas is the President and CEO of The Power, Passion and Purpose Group, Inc. The news service is a project of the Black College Communication Association, an organization for faculty members teaching journalism and mass communications at black colleges and universities. BCCA's Student Media Institute operates the site and generates the training opportunities for students and faculty.

BlackCommentator.com's core audience is African Americans and their allies in the struggle for social and economic justice. It is also important to share Black American perspectives with the rest of the world, a mission uniquely suited to the Internet. Their focus is commentary, analysis and investigation, elements of political dialogue that are absolutely essential to the creation of movements for social change. Without regular forums for advocacy and debate, a people are at the mercy of their adversaries.

Project 21

Project 21 is an initiative of The National Center for Public Policy Research to promote the views of conservative African-Americans whose entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to family and commitment to individual responsibility has not traditionally been echoed by the nation's civil rights establishment.

Quarterly Book Review

A publication and website exclusively dedicated to books about the African-American experience.  Founded in 1983, QBR's magazine is published six times a year but its website, qbr.com, features articles and reviews on everything from fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and children's books to health and lifestyle.  Additionally, there are audio clips of author interviews and book and poetry readings.

The Maynard Institute

The institute was incorporated in 1977 and provides a number of programs to help the nation's news media reflect the nation's diversity, including Fault Lines training, its nationally acclaimed management training programs and Reality Checks, a web based content audit software program. It was renamed in 1993 to honor of the late Robert C. Maynard, an institute co-founder and the former owner, publisher and editor of the Oakland Tribune.
